Cassette-sized DR detector with a new design meets latent needs in medical facilities

FDR D-EVO II is the IEC standard size and can therefore be used with existing equipment at hospitals, thereby reducing costs. Moreover, the back side of the cassette was designed after observing medical care settings and given a round shape to reduce patient discomfort and not tire out the radiographer. The unit also reflects new values that meet users’ needs by incorporating a flat surface free of screw heads and labels for easy cleaning and an LED light for better visibility. The choice of color expresses the system’s high performance and status as a professional radiography tool that includes peripheral equipment to enhance design integrity as a whole system. These design features make the system optimal for a broad range of medical care facilities beyond radiology departments.

Improved usability as a DR system for streamlining the X-ray testing workflow

We began with a thorough investigation to identify how the X-ray testing workflow would be impacted by the transition from CR to DR and how we should approach the system’s design in regard to usability. Subsequently, in partnering with product/interface designers, we researched device coordination using variations in light and color, including screen display, so that users would be able to clearly grasp equipment status at every point of testing and thereby improving system-wide usability.
