A technology that selectively allows reflections and transmissions of light over a wide wavelength range, thus controlling circular polarization and dispersion.

This technology facilitates control over reflections and transmissions of light by evenly applying our original liquid crystal coating, which exerts strong control over molecular alignment. Now it is mainly used as a protective, polarizing film for LCDs that widens the viewing angle. We partner with research institutes and on projects to explore other applications for this material with light-controlling quality. One prototype (left) we developed using the material causes colors and images to appear in the reflections of light cast on what appears to be a clear acrylic object. Another prototype (right) mimics the structural colors found in nature, such as goniochromism.
